12 of our older pupils showed off our school values of resilience and respect as they tackled the cyclo-cross challenges, They listened and took on the more experienced riders from the Matlock Cycle club and were pleased to win some of the races. Working in a team was vital to the Italian pursuit and our cyclists had enthusiasm in abundance as they peddled to the finish. Well done Squirrels!
A wonderful link to local talent helped us to celebrate the King's Corination with this afternoon of dance and music. The children arrived in the colours of the Union flag and were taught a range of dances - keeping time by dancing in step to the music as well as remembering which was to turn made for a fun challenge!
As part of our Wide Opportunities music programme the children are invited to play alongside the Halle Orchestra in Manchester. The programme included music from Swan lake by Tchaikovsky, the Stravinsky's Firebird and Grieg's In the hall of the Mountain King. The children sang and played their trumpets and trombones along with 100s of other youngsters. Many of our parents came to watch as well as helping with transport (big thanks)! We then took a short walk to the Manchester Museum and enjoyed exploring the history of this exciting city - and recalling our understanding of the Victorian industrial revolution! An amazing experience paid for by the PTFA :)
